Duplicate items appear when viewing items in Datasheet view in SharePoint

ISSUE:
Duplicate items appear when viewing items in Datasheet view in SharePoint.  This also happens when using the Export to Spreadsheet (Excel).  If duplicates appear in Datasheet view, they will also appear during Export to Spreadsheet and vice versa.

DESCRIPTION:
The list has got versioning switched off, and views fine in standard list view. However, when you switch to either datasheet view or Excel Export it shows the same rows up to three times in sequential rows.

WORAROUND/SOLUTION:
The affected lists have a REQUIRED lookup field which allows multiple values.
If you have a view that does NOT include this field and it is either a datasheet or you "Switch to Datasheet" then datasheet shows duplicate items depending on how many multi-values are selected.

Our work-around was to create a specific Datasheet view with the field included.  The multi-value field does not show in datasheet, because multi-value lookup fields don't seem to work in datasheet.  However, it's important to include the field in the view to avoid duplicates.
Unfortunately, if you have a view that does not include the field and then "Switch to Datasheet" you will encounter the same problem.

The duplicates appear also when you try to Export to Excel.  If you have a view that would be affected by the "Switch to Datasheet" duplicates problem, when you try to Export to Excel, it will also appear.

Edit in datasheet is missing in SharePoint 2010

SharePoint 2010 is simply fabulous J this version has already comes up with lot of new enhancements and easy to use functionality.
Requirements: Let’s suppose the site collection administrator has decided that he doesn’t want his team members to see the option of ‘edit in datasheet’ for a specific library. If I want to reframe this information in other terms then it would be like this-Site collection administrator wants to hide the ‘edit in datasheet’ option for a document library so that nobody can open it in datasheet view/ nobody can download the data by means of datasheet view.
In sharepoint 2007, it was possible by using some customized coding but in SharePoint 2010, it an out of box functionality and can be easily achieved.
Resolution: Please refer the following steps and your issue will be resolved:
·         Open the document in which you are facing the problem
·         Settings
·         Document library settings
·         Advanced settings
·         Make this option-“Allow items in this document library to be edited using the datasheet?”- Yes
·         Click OK
That’s it and you are done J
Note: it requires full control permissions for the document library or at the site level so that you can see the settings option.
If you have any queries/questions regarding the above mentioned information then please let me know. I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues J J
Thank you.

Edit in Datasheet View in Sharepoint without MS Office installed

Why you cannot view a list in Datasheet view on a Windows SharePoint Services Web site ? I know everybody knows the answers:

This behavior occurs if one or more if the following conditions are true:
•A datasheet component that is compatible with Windows SharePoint Services is not installed.
A Microsoft Office Professional edition is not installed on the computer. •The Web browser does not support ActiveX controls.
•Support for ActiveX controls is disabled.

Edit in datasheet gives you the way by which you can perform bulk updates and deletes. But the problem or you call it as necessity that Office package should be insatalled on your machine.

but what if-you dont have a office installed on your machine and you need to do some important work. Dont worry-Here is the solution:
You just have to install the AccessDatabaseEngine from Microsoft and it will give you the edit in datasheet mode.

You can download the database engine from the following location:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=C06B8369-60DD-4B64-A44B-84B371EDE16D&displaylang=en

I hope the above mentioned information will be usefull to you as well as resolves the issue when requirement arises. Please let me know in case of any issues/queries/questions.

Icons in Datasheet view for lists in SharePoint does not display correctly with office 2003

Office 2003 has so many limitations as compare to advanced version i.e. Office 2007. Microsoft recommended that if we want to use SharePoint 2007 in feasible manner then the best version is Office 2007.

I have two Virtual machines for testing from the client perspectives: One with Office 2003 and second with office 2007.

Issue is: When i tried to open a sharepoint list in datasheet view then the icons didn't render properly
Note: This is my Office 2003 with SP3 machine

Standard view is working correctly, problem is only with Datasheet view

Troubleshooting Did:
-Installed the windows sharepoint services support component by means of Office options
-checked the number of characters in the URL & that's fine (256 character limitation)
-checked with Office 2007, works perfectly

Now the questions arises: what is the problem with Office 2003. Not able to find out the root cause behind this but seems to be a Design Limitation with Office 2003.

Conclusion:
This issue is a design limitation for integration between Microsoft Office 2003 and SharePoint, and is only present for List's Datasheet view.
As a result, you cannot browse the folders from this view.

If you open a Document Library in Datasheet View, the Icons are rendered correctly.
If you open a List in Datasheet View with Microsoft Office 2007 the Icons are rendered correctly.

Upgrade to Office 2007 or later in order to avoid this behavior with SharePoint.

Dataview does not work work in SP 2010

Hey Guys,

This is another post based on Office 2010 issue in combination with SharePoint.

Error Message:

The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons:
-A datasheet component compatible with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is not installed.
-Your Web browser does not support ActiveX controls.
-A component is not properly configured for 32-bit or 64-bit support.

What happens exactly:
I have Office 2010 installed but when I tried to open a list in Sharepoint Server 2010 in dataview I get the "datasheet component combatible with SharePoint Foundation is not installed" error.

Resolution:

after lots of research n troubleshooting, i found out this great article which is published from Microsoft:

If your business needs justify using the 64-bit version of Office 2010, you can install the 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components to enable the Datasheet component. These components are available from the
