The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view

SharePoint and office are the most used components when you start working in an office. Almost 90% of our documents are in office compatibility so it’s quite obvious that they have to work with SharePoint without any issues and if you start facing issues then it’s quite annoying!

Environment details:-
·         SharePoint 2010
·         Office 2013
·         Windows Server 2008 R2

Here is the error message that I am talking about:

The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons:
- A datasheet component compatible with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is not installed.
- Your Web browser does not support ActiveX controls.
- A component is not properly configured for 32-bit or 64-bit support.

Resolution:
To resolve this you need the following data connectivity component installed: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=23734

Although this says 2007 and therefore looks like an odd install in relation to 2010 SharePoint it resolves this data sheet issue.

Imp Notes:
The Edit in Datasheet view functionality in SharePoint Server 2010 is not supported if you install 64-bit Office 2013 client. The Edit in Datasheet functionality is available if you install 32-bit Office 2013 client.

happy to help you as well as resolves your issues, Thank you!

The List Cannot be Displayed in Datasheet view.....

Display a list in Datasheet view. Datasheet view requires that you have a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible datasheet program installed, such as Microsoft Office 2010 Professional. Datasheet view lets you add, delete, and update list entries just as you would in a spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Office Excel 2010. Come across such issue that belongs to datasheet view and details are as follows:

As we all know that SharePoint list consist of two views by default: Standard view and datasheet view. The standerd view is working fine without any issues but when i changed the view from standerd view to datasheet view then i faced the below mentioned problem | error message:

The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons:
•A datasheet component compatible with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is not installed.
•Your Web browser does not support ActiveX controls.
•A component is not properly configured for 32-bit or 64-bit support.

Configuration:-
-Machine OS: Windows 7 (64 bit)
-Office installed: Office 2010 (64 bit)
-IE version: IE8.0

Resolution:
Issue has been resolved because of this post

You can solve the issue by installing the “2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components” downloadable under:http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/confirmation.aspx?displaylang=en&id=23734

Why this issue occurs:
The ActiveX control for the Datasheet view is not compatible with Office 64-bit versions.

what is imporant to note:
Microsoft strongly recommends the use of 32-bit (x86) versions of Office 2010, Project 2010, and Visio 2010 applications as the default option for all platforms.
Office 2010 64 bits will not be required in most of the scenarios.

Note: DataSheet is an ActiveX control so it would work with only Internet Explorer.

I hope the above mentioned information is pretty much clear to resolve the issue but still in case of any doubts/queries/questions then please let me know.
I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues, Thank you

The List cannot be displayed in Datasheet view

SharePoint Lists are very useful in so many ways as it has the functionality of copy and paste.

We can use the SharePoint List in 2 ways:
1. Graphical User Interface (GUI)/ Standard View
2. Excel Spread sheet view /Datasheet View

Excel Spread sheet view is very powerful as we can easily transfer the data from your machine to SharePoint list by simply using copy and paste.

When we tried to switch from standard view to datasheet view then most of the users face the following error message:

The List cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons:
-A datasheet component compatible with windows SharePoint services is not installed.
-Your Web browser does not support ActiveX controls
-Support for ActiveX controls is disabled.

Note: I have seen that most of the users face this kind of issue if they are using Internet Explorer 6.0 (IE 6).

Please follow the below mentioned steps to resolve the issue:

Resolution Steps:

1. Windows SharePoint Service Support options for Microsoft Office should be installed (applicable for Office 2003 as well as for Office 2007)

How to enable this option:
A.   Start-Control Panel-Add or Remove Programs-click on Microsoft Office and then Change
B.   Add/Remove Features
C.   Expand the Office Tools category.
D.  Next verify that you have both the Microsoft Office Access Web Datasheet Component and the Windows SharePoint Services Support component installed.
E.   If these components are not installed choose to run them from your computer and then click the Continue button and go through the installation process. You may need your Office 2007 install media.

2. Next you want to verify that you can run ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer. To do this open IE and go to the Tools menu > Internet options

3. Next click on the Security tab and for your Trusted sites click (choose Internet if you do not add your SharePoint sites to your Trusted Sites) on the Custom level button

4. Verify that you can use previously unused ActiveX controls.

5. Verify that you can download signed ActiveX controls and that you can run ActiveX controls and plug-ins.

6. The next setting is –> select "Enable" for Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting.

7. Adjust these settings accordingly and then click OK twice to return to Internet Explorer.

8. You may need to close Internet Explorer and re-open the program before your new settings take hold and become active.

If you have any queries/questions regarding the above mentioned information then please let me know, Thank you.
