Questions about SharePoint 2013 patching:
ReplyDelete1) If I install August CU, do I need to install previous ones, such as June or April ones?
2) Do I need to install March update, even if I have installed August CU?
3) If I install Server CU, do I need to install Foundation one?
Hello- you will have to install the March Update as that is required. After that, the latest CU will always include all the updates since the last major update. i.e. You install the March PU and then want to install the October 13 CU (coming out shortly). The October CU will contain all the updates in the June as well as the August CU.
DeleteAnother small query- Do we need to run the psconfig wizard on the app server first / WFE?
ReplyDeleteit should be on the application server first and then rest of the front ends.

ReplyDeleteI recently installed August CU in our Servers. Its a 2010 Farm with SP1. Below was the step I performed....
ReplyDeleteFirst installed SP2 on all servers...Then installed CU.....These can be done on all servers simultaneously.. No Problem......Then I reboot the servers (This was as per advice from MS Engineer). Then we did PSCONFIG on all servers. That's all....and our upgrade was 100% successful
Note : PSCONFIG need to run on single server at a time
Thank you Binu for sharing the guidelines. This will be usefull for the entire community. Thanks again!
