Media webpart is missing in SharePoint 2010

One of the best webpart/enhancement in SharePoint 2010 is MWP i.e. Media Web Part. If you are thinking about the functionality as How to use, what kind of formats are supported by this webpart, can we use it in previous versions…etc. I know there are so many questions are rolling up in your mind and here is the answer:
Coming back to the Problem and its Resolution:
If you are not able to view the Media webpart in your webpart gallery then make sure that the ‘SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature’ is activated at the site collection level.
Note: You should be a site collection administrator to activate this feature.
How to activate this feature?
·         Open the sharepoint site
·         Site actions
·         Site settings
·         Site collection administration
·         Activate ‘SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature’
·         That’s it-now you can view that webpart in webpart gallery.
One more point that I would like to share is-This feature plays a very important role at the site collection as well as at the site level.
If suppose, you are not able to view the following webparts then the activation of the above feature i.e. SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature’ will also resolves the problem.
Which are these webparts?
·         Content query webpart
·         Summary links webpart
·         Table of contents webpart
Now, you can imagine how important this feature is!!
If you have any queries/questions regarding the above mentioned information then please let me know. I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues, Thank you J

Error while clicking Manage Content and Structure in Sharepoint 2010

Let me share some series of error messages that I have experienced while troubleshooting the issue:
Failed to retrieve the list schema for feature [FEATURE GUID], list template [TEMPLATE]; expected to find it at: ""
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.    at - Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Internal.WebControls.ObjectSerializer.DeleteAllowed(Boolean checkPermissions)
List does not exist. The page you selected contains a list that does not exist.  It may have been deleted by another user.
As you can see from the above mentioned error messages, a hint/a clue/ray of hope is already reflected and you can easily troubleshoot the issue without asking for anybody’s help. Yes, you can resolve this issue on your own...
Let’s try to figure out some common words from these error messages “List does not exist, Object not set to an instance, failed to retrieve a list”-this suggest that some list instance/library instance has been corrupted/not working as per the expected behavior.
So now the big question arises- How to find out this corrupted instance?
It’s very easy, here are the details:
§  Open the SharePoint site
§  Site actions
§  Site settings
§  Site administration
§  Site libraries and lists
§  Click on each and every list one by one
§  The list which is corrupted/not working will throw this exception:
 List does not exist.
§  That’s it-Delete that list and you issue will be resolved. J J
Happy SharePoint once again J
If you are thinking as How to delete that list then there are so many options:
Here we go:
§  By using SharePoint Designer 2010
§  By using windows explorer
§  By using Power shell command
stsadm.exe -o forcedeletelist -url <your list url>
If you have any queries/questions regarding the above mentioned error message then please let me know. I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues J
Thank you.

Not able to see KPI list in SharePoint 2010?

Guys,
I know we are very much familiar with KPI list in SharePoint 2007.
Main Function/Brief details:
A Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is a visual cue that communicates the amount of progress made toward a goal.
Key Performance Indicators are valuable for teams, managers, and businesses to evaluate quickly the progress made against measurable goals. By using SharePoint KPIs, you can easily visualize answers to the following questions:
What am I ahead or behind on? How far ahead or behind am I? What is the minimum I have completed?
If will be a shock for all of us if we don’t see the KPI list in SharePoint 2010 or so many questions will be a raised against Microsoft as why this option is eliminated in this new version of SharePoint. When I visited the /_layouts/create.aspx page to create the KPI list then I was surprised to view the list section without KPI list.
But don’t worry guys; KPI List still exists in SharePoint 2010 J
Here is the mystery reveals: The KPI list has been renamed as Status List in SharePoint 2010. Microsoft has published a great article on this and I want to share with all you to get started with the functioning of this status list:
If you are not able to see the status list under create list section then please follow the below mentioned steps and your issue will be resolved J
§  Open the sharepoint site on which you are working
§  Site actions
§  Site settings
§  On this page, you will see one more section named as ‘site actions’
§  Manage site features
§  Activate this feature ‘SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features’
§  As soon as you activate this option then please check your create list page i.e. http://Your_sitename/_layouts/create.aspx
If you have any queries/questions regarding the above mentioned information then please let me know. I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues J J
