this data source cannot be used because performancepoint is not configured correctly

Today we got one support ticket in which user had mention that he is facing some problem with respect to performance point services. Further problem reveals the fact that he is trying to connect to performance point service by means of Dashboard Designer and getting the following error message:

This data source cannot be used because performancepoint services is not configured correctly

How exactly this theory works-
If the network has not been set up for a Kerberos delegation on a per-user identity basis, PerformancePoint Services requires an unattended service account. The unattended service account is set up in the PerformancePoint settings, but can be set up only if the Secure Store Service is set up for the web application. If either the unattended service account is not set up or the Secure Store Service was not set up initially for PerformancePoint Services, the application presents a message (when Dashboard Designer is connecting to the data source) stating that PerformancePoint Services has not been configured correctly.

Resolution:
We need to set unattended service account and assign full control to PPS service application.

Here are the details steps:
1)   Central Administration
2)   Application management
3)   Manage service applications
4)   Performance Point service application
5)   PerformancePoint Service Application Settings
6)   Add the Unattended Service Account and Mark Full Control
7)   That’s it. Check the results now.

It should be resolved now!

This tab has been recovered - SharePoint 2010

Error:  This tab has been recovered, a problem with this page caused internet explorer to close and reopen this tab.

Background: Some of the user has reported that while using the SharePoint sites with IE8 they are getting above error message. Based on the above grounds we started with the basic troubleshooting such as.

Troubleshooting:
  • Checked the Excel file to open from SharePoint site, causing the error.
  • Checked to open other file from SharePoint site, causing the error.
  • Downloaded the file from the SharePoint to local machine and tried to open them, no issues found.
  • This seems to be an issue with IE as all the files are being blocked not only Excel files.
Resolution:
  • Use Internet Explorer (IE) by temporarily disable all add-ons. You can do this by following the steps below.
  • Click the Start button and select click All Programs,
  • Click Accessories and then click on System Tools,
  • Click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

The security validation for this page has timed out

While working on browser enabled InfoPath forms, I got the following error message:
The security validation for this page has timed out. Click back in your Web browser, refresh the page, and try your operation again.
Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.

Valuable comment from Clayton Cobb: “What you're experiencing is the BROWSER timeout for SharePoint, which of course affects browser forms, but it's not related to InfoPath.  It's a farm setting for all of SharePoint, and it's related to the browser security, not InfoPath forms.  Your users aren't hitting an InfoPath timeout; they are hitting a browser timeout.  The default is 30 minutes, and that's to protect your system from security breaches.  If you want to change it for people to fill out InfoPath forms, then you're going to have to change it for the entire farm, and it will affect all browser sessions unrelated to InfoPath.
My recommendation is to provide a custom save button that allows the user to save progress along the way”

What resolution I have applied:-
1)   Open the SharePoint 2010 central administration
2)   Application Management section
3)   Click on Manage web applications
4)   This will open the Web applications list page.
5)   Select the particular web application
6)   Click on General Settings from the Ribbon.
7)   This will open the Web Applications General Settings dialog box.
8)   From there Web page Security Validations property
9)   Change the Security validations expires which is by default 30 minutes to Never.

The document could not be opened for editing

When opening a document from a SharePoint library on a specific site collection, I am receiving the following error.

"The document could not be opened for editing. A Microsoft SharePoint Foundation compatible application could not be found to edit the document"

Multiple resolutions:
1)   Make sure you are using IE 32 bit. IE 64 bit is not fully compatible with SharePoint

2)   Go to the document library's settings, advanced settings and check the settings for Opening Documents in the Browser

3)   If using IE 32 bit, check if "SharePoint OpenDocuments Class" is enabled under Tools -> Manage add-ons

4)   Make sure "Open Documents in Client Applications by Default" feature is activated for the site collection

5)   Try changing "Browser File Handling" of the web application to "Permissive"

6)   Try adding the SharePoint site to the Trusted Sites zone of the browser

8)   Make sure the client integration is enabled in central administration

If you have any queries/questions/confusion regarding the above mentioned points then please let me know. I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues, Thank you.
